Tokyo Trophies

Tokyo is the city of work/consume. So naturally there are plenty of hot spots to quench the peoples needs.
I've explored a little slice of the action.
You can find boutiques with vintage and small designer labels are dotted around Nakameguro/Diakenyama/Shimokitazawa

Must see Jantique in Nakameguro for beautiful visual merchandising and super expensive vintage finds.

You can find your usual second-hand chain stores 'Thank You Mart' and 'We Go' in Harajuku down the busy Takeshita-dori. 'Life Market' is set up right next to 'Thank You Mart' for some second hand competition. They also had 'Kenji' in Harajuku which was very much like 'Savers' from home.

There was a second-hand kimono stand set up on the corner of Omote-sando the street full of name brands. The stand had a good selection of robes and obis. I picked a beautiful obi for 1000yen.

All these vintage shops didn't satisfy my hunger for quality priced treasure hunting. So I had to dig to find flea markets in the surrounding area. There's the myth of a monthly flea market at Yoyogi park, but we weren't lucky enough to be there for that. So the following Saturday my partner in crime Lynda and I treked out to the Salvation Army Bazzar in Nakano-fujimidai. It was a very fruitful mission.

Kyoto Finds

There were some exquisitely expensive vintage shops in the shopping district of Kyoto. They're masters at the art of visual merchandising, with precise positioning of nick nacks and subtle lighting. Great places to shop if you have little time and some mula. Knowing me these places are great for visual shopping, but it takes the fun out of the hunt.

During my random stumblings I came across a cute little kimono store down an alleyway. The cute little old store owners put this kimono on for size.

On our night stroll through town we found this reasonably priced little nook of a store. I had to get JB this t-shirt for being such a fabulous host.

We happened across a flea market held at a shrine on Sunday as we were riding around. Very happy hunting.
